Refund on a pre booked pre paid hotel??

Just wondering if anyone has any advice. Last night we booked 5 nights (£950) at what we thought was a lovely boutique hotel for our honeymoon in the Lake District. Weirdly they make you pay the whole amount up front for it over the phone..! It's booked for September.

Anyway, I stupidly read the reviews of this place after we'd booked it and not before, and it's not sounding even half as nice as we thought.

They will only give a 'refund' in the form of vouchers which must be spent there within 12 months. Not much use.

The payment on Debit card has already gone through and can't be stopped (already checked with the bank).

Just wondered if anyone had any advice, or if I have any rights that I perhaps don't know about on getting a refund, even a % of the amount?

Granted we've not been yet and so at present we can't comment on the place, but the reviews are not looking good and as it's our honeymoon, we just want it to to be perfect.

Thanks in advance.

No rights whatsoever. Always research BEFORE paying!

Have you actually visited in person? Might be worth an advance visit to let them know that you expect your 5 night stay to be up to scratch.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Does it say in their T@Cs they only give vouchers if you cancel ?
