Best offer on car
Options
Hi everyone,
I have seen a car that I like which is an 07 plate corsa. It is only 6,795 which I think is quite cheap as it has only done 20,000 miles. What do you think is the cheapest sensible offer I can make the dealer? Or is the car too good to be true? How would I check the number plate, where can I do this for the cheapest possible price, as I might not be buying the car yet?
Thank You
Vicky

07 plate 1.2 Life's with about 40k on can be bought quite freely for under 5000.0 -

As previous poster as indicated, what version is it?
A general guide from http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-prices/Version.aspx?model=1524&plate=84
and a quick look on autotrader will show if the price is in the right area. You could get a 2009 model for just over £5K with 1200 miles
See http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201020359195951/sort/priceasc/usedcars/maximum-mileage/up_to_5000_miles/maximum-age/up_to_3_years_old/model/corsa/make/vauxhall/page/1/postcode/nn27hn/radius/100?logcode=p
Or this
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201025361735662/sort/priceasc/usedcars/maximum-age/up_to_3_years_old/maximum-mileage/up_to_20000_miles/fuel-type/diesel/model/corsa/make/vauxhall/page/1/radius/100/postcode/nn27hn?logcode=p
which is cheaper and the lower tax group....0 -
This is the one that I want: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201025361550699/sort/priceasc/usedcars/maximum-mileage/up_to_40000_miles/quantity-of-doors/3/price-to/8000/engine-size-cars/1-7l_to_1-9l/fuel-type/diesel/maximum-age/up_to_4_years_old/model/corsa/make/vauxhall/radius/1500/page/1/postcode/dy148eb?logcode=p
Can anyone advise me on how much I should offer for it?:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0 -
Look at Parkers, WhatCar, etc online to give you an idea of price.
I don't know how much 1.7s go for but it seems reasonable to me.0 -
On what car it says dealers should be charging 8,400 for this car, which makes me wonder why is it so cheap?:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0

This car is at the lower end of what dealers on Auto Trader are charging for similar models so the scope for a large discount may not be possible but you can always offer a couple of hundred off and see the reaction.
The ad says group 16 insurance but this may be an error as other ads say group 6. The co2 is 130g/km which would give a road tax of just £90 and being diesel would make this a relatively cheap car to own.
If buying on credit make sure you get a good interest rate as some dealers charge extortionate rates and this would negate any good haggling that you do.
From the ad it looks a nice car and if you really want it then don't let it go for the sake of a hundred pounds or so which would be 50p/week if you kept the car for 4 years.0 -

This depends if they are using the 20 or 50 group system.0 -
Cars are regrouped and go upto 50 now.0
