signing off JSA

Hello to all can anyone advise me? I have been out of work for just over a year now and have been signing on at the job center but i dont get any JSA because i dont qualify i think its because my wife earns too much and i didnt make enough contributions in my last job because i was laid off after only 10 months. I recently turned down a job because i worked out id have been about £300 a month worse off. Our situation at the moment is i get housing benefit and the wife gets child tax credits and working tax credits. What i want to know is if i was to sign off at the job center would it affect these benefits atall?

No, but you would lose your NI credits which go towards your eventual pension.

If you're eligible for housing benefit I'm a little surprised you can't get any other benefit - have you tried Income Support?

    Wouldn't be entitled to IS.

Did you verify this with a benefits adviser or run your details through the Entitled To website?

However you are receiving JSA - NI Credits Only.
