Nat West

Got an account review with them next week.

Now I know quite a few of you are not their biggest fans :rotfl:
but they've been good enough for me, to this point.

We are not "pre-approved" for credit card with them (probably due to late payment markers from the wife's catalogue accounts that have appeared in my name, which I'm appealing) but we have an overdraft on the account, which we dip into most months and fund the account with circa £2750 per month.

What are the chances that they'll let me switch my Vanquis to one of their cards? and : Do the staff at branch level have any sway on the decision making?

Cheers folks!
Capital one £200 - bal nil. Aqua £350 - bal nil
Vanquis limit [STRIKE]£250[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£750[/STRIKE] £1250 - bal £450. Nat West overdraft limit - £300, unused. JD Willaims limit [STRIKE]£400 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE] £600 [/STRIKE] £900 - bal £90.
Very limit £400 - balance £329 (buy now pay 2011!)

This was about 8 years ago now, so I guess things might have change.

You might be surprised. I was living in my overdraft all the time, it had a £3000 limit and I was always £2500 at least in it by payday. My monthly wage was about £1200 at the time, so always at least £1400 in the red after I got paid. Also had a loan with them for about £3000.

Went in for a review was bricking it, thought I was going to get a right telling off.

But no ended up being told I would be accepted for both a visa and mastercard, bank staff, filled all the applications out for me and I got the cards.

The actual branch staff might not be able to override automated decisions, but they can probably call up the lending department and get approval for them.

To cut a long story short, I had problems on my account due to a screw up by LLoyds and they couldn't approve my a credit card without overriding the computer.

The member of staff in the branch couldn't do this, but they were able to call their personal lending department and have them pull my credit file and do a manual assessment (I got the card).

Granted that's Lloyds and not Natwest, but I would be surprised if they didn't have a similar process in place.
