Changes to start up time for 'free' land line phone calls in the evening

Watch out! I have just discovered that the start up time for free evening calls on BT and TalkTalk, and perhaps others, has changed from 6pm to 7pm. Please pass this on to all folk you are aware of who do their main phoning on the stroke of 6pm. The companies must have warned their customers about this change using a whisper, or very small print, I think. TalkTalk has reimbursed my mother for calls made between 6 and 7 over the last month :T
but BT would not do the same for me:(
The word needs to be spread, so everyone is aware.

Welcome to the MSE forums bahini.
That's old news for the regulars here but you'll get no change from BT, I'm afraid.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Yes, i think 99% of people know about this, Sky started this also at the start of June with their Skytalkmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
O2 Home Phone launched this May with their Evening & Weekend tariff classing Evenings as '6pm - 6am'. As BT had already announced their changes before O2 launched, hopefully O2 have no immediate plans to change to 7pm (otherwise they would have done so at launch).
Certainly this was one of the reasons I moved to O2.0 -
Interestingly enough, an elderly friend of mine (certainly over 80) rang BT and 'did battle' with them about this and they said that they would not reimburse her, until she said that she was in receipt of a BT pension! Her husband used to work for them. Her cheque is in the post.......0
