The revenue from anything found will just be squandered by Westminster just like it has been over the last few decades.
They should have invested it into a social fund like the Norwegians did.0 -
Also this link which shows the biggest discovery since 2001

Boomtimes ahead for Aberdeen......Oil and gas firms are ready to invest hundreds of millions of pounds in the search for new fields, after seeking to explore a record number of blocks in UK waters.
Energy Minister Charles Hendry yesterday revealed bids for 356 blocks in the 26th licensing round for offshore exploration.
This is the largest number since the first licensing round in 1964 saw 394 blocks requested.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I scanned it but it just seems to be an article about companies vying for small oil fields in the North Sea, presumably because the big ones are drying up.0 -
The easy to drill fields in the North Sea are pretty much tapped out. Pretty soon the planet will be relying on hard to find oil so obviously theyre going to drill the remote and smaller ones, but at greater cost and less profit.
Hardly "boom times" for Aberdeen. Nevermind.
Thats one thing I find annoying about the BP spill, on top of the environmental disaster theyre talking about 100,000 barrels a day spewing into the sea and I keep thinking - we need that.0 -

The company that rents the drilling rig and the staff employed to work on it don't care if the oil deposit is small or large.....
Record levels of exploration means a significant influx of staff and resources.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

.
Record levels of exploration require a significant influx of staff and resources. Perhaps even "record levels" of both.
Boom times indeed.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
