iPhone 4 debit not taken from account

Hi, I purchased an iPhone 4 last week Thursday(24/06/10) at the Apple Store in Kingston. I paid with my Lloyds TSB debit card. The money was immediately deducted from my available balance. Normally with debit card payments the debit doesnt show up until a day later on my statement. I was expecting the payment to show on my statement on Monday but it didnt appear even though the funds had been deducted from my available balance. This morning I checked my account and I see the funds are available in my account again(£599). Has anyone had this happen to them or know what might've happened? Seeing as my phone has been suffering with the poor signal problem have Apple done the honourable thing and decided not to charge me for the phone???! :D

It may be there was a problem on your banks end. The only thing i can suggest is to contact your bank and ask them.

Remember, even if they dont take the money straight away, they may be able to deduct it from you for up to 6 years (i believe, i'm sure if i'm wrong someone wont be long in pointing it out). So you may be worthwhile contacting them and asking them what happened if your bank cant provide any answers.

As unholyangel says above, they can take the money out at a later stage. Dont know the exact time frame, though

I have had problems like this with Asda before...... 6 months later they take their money for my grocery shopping!

The bank's card clearing cycle usually is a little longer than a day or so, my funds dont show as available for anything up to two weeks with HSBC. If the company hasnt claimed their money by then, HSBC return it to my account.

Just leave the £500 in the account, they will come forward for it eventually. If you dont leave it in there and it gets claimed, it will put you overdrawn because your bank has guaranteed and authorised that money to leave your account.

On a similar note, quite often when I pay by bill with Next with my debit card, I see the money reserved instantly, then 2 days later it looks like it has been released back into my account, to then be taken the next day. I'd at least wait a couple of days to be sure.
  • Do not worry, I would spend it as they clearly cannot be bothered to collect their money

Apple have a tendency to wait a few days before processing the transaction, not sure if they batch process it or what, but what a couple of days!

    Sounds a great idea that.
