Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Wed 30th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning
All is well down this way. Dry and warm again. the rain yesterday was at most a distraction, but did nothing to water the plants. Pottered about most of the day. Probate office. Buying grow bags, fixing new hive frames together and then checking the bees. There is honey going in, so could be a good year...
Same again today I think. I have 12 growbags to plant up and the poly tunnel to do. Maybe I should be out in my boat and not working on my days off. Well folks, have a good day

Morning N9eav -guess you're finishing your post as I see the sticky's now in place! Morning to all who follow too!
Have been MIA for a few days, but hopefully back again now. The kitchen is beginning to take shape - and at the end of yesterday we had a working sink once more - that was the worst bit! We do have a tap in the garage, but no drain beneath so couldn't run water until cold so warm to drink! Also very difficult to reach as lots of kitchen stuff is out there virtually blocking it, so was thrilled to come home yesterday and be able to use a tap normally again! How we take such things for granted!
Whole house looks terrible here with kitchen stuff piled high in all rooms! Still, they really do think they'll have finished by tomorrow evening so very excited. Not an OS week - we're eating out /with friends each evening. Also replaced garden shed yesterday - I'd thought it would be the same size, but no, looks like elongated sentry box! DH admits he ordered wrong size, but is unrepentant as he reckons it's quite big enough for storing the garden stuff, with no room for any junk! Need to get some tubs to go round it on the "spare" bit of the base, and then it'll probably look quite nice! However, until the kitchen is finished we can't get the rubbish from the old shed through the garage and out to the skip, so even my back garden looks a mess just now!
Have a load of washing just finishing ( I managed to hack a path through to the WM and thought I'd best get it done before the workmen get back!).
Hope you're all OK. take care.Resolution:

Off to work here soon, hubby's already been taken to the station.
Car failed it's MOT yesterday, DS has fixed it, I shall get him to do it from now on, it failed on a windscreen wiper & 'centre brake light' the light hasn't worked since I've had the car & they have never mentioned it before!
Finally have my aircon working again at work, what a relief, it's not easy working in a sauna, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All
Well, my last full day at work for 6 weeks just have tomorrow morning to do and 'School's Out For Summer!' We have the church service this afternoon which is always quite touching as the Primary 7 children will be moving on to High School. Going to a very good friend and colleague's retirement evening tonight, it's quite local which is unusual for me, I shall be picking people up to go and then I will leave my car there tonight. It will only take me 5 minutes to walk for it in the morning.
Took the big car in to get the brakes done yesterday, apparently they were quite bad so shall be having words with DS2 when he returns from the US as the brake warning light has been on for a while! The small car is going for its first service today (10,000 miles in 5 months!) so DD will have to get her bike out. It's her that has put the miles on the car as driving is still quite a novelty.
OS wise, just the washing, will try to make some cookies before I leave for Germany, it's the first time I have left DD in the house on her own. Will also try to have a quick clean round in the next couple of days and hope she keeps it tidy!
Hello to the Newbies and special thoughts to those who are poorly or feeling down.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
Lovely bright day again here :TI am off to work, but will be busy, and the day should fly past.
Home tonight to put a wash on, cook dinner and tidy round, dinner tonight for the other two will be chow mein,OH will have chicken with his, I shall have chicken and ham with a small salad.
Need to make up my luch in a while, fish i think, tuna or mackeral with salad.
Yesterday I managed to get 2 1/2 walls stripped back, its slow work, but only 1 1/2 to go now, which I can ghet OH to help me with on Sat, then it will be the horrible job of getting the walls washed over and over, to remove thw plaster powder.
Thanks to Butterflybrain for all the help yesterday xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning.
Off to work today, doing an 8 and a half hour shift, not looking forward to it at all, but it means I only work 2 and a half days instead of four for the boys, during the summer. Big DS had a bit of a meltdown last night, and they are not going to Holiday Club as a result, they are off to MIL's which I am not too happy about because of her health issues, but they love her and she is good to them, so I know they'll be fine, I couldn't have coped worrying about him all day. I am worried enough about Coco!
I have made my pack up and prep'd dinner for tonight, spag bol, just need to cook it!:D
Have a good day, be back later.
Hugs to all, Jackie XXIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

day off for me:j
am popping to Mums this morning. DS gone to college to hand more work in. Heard that my hairdresser and her twins- born at 24 weeks are in hospital in Bristol and that the babies have holes in their hearts and only weighed one and a half pounds each - will be thinking of them all.
House clean and tidy - WM is on - ironing to do later.
DH dug up our spuds last night - we've got lots of yummy new pots now and they only cost us a pound to get started.:T
quorn cottage pie for tea with carrots and new pots.
(((hugs))) to those in need
Anniestar -:hello: - Hi if you're reading this x

Morning all.......................((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
A bright start but it clouded over now, we are forcast rain and high winds tomorrow. We need the rain for the garden, but can do iwithout the wind thank you.
Quilting group this afternoon, I am driving myself, my friend I car share with is going out. I need to find something to take with me, I could take the little cardigan I knitted, I have to pick up the stitches and knit the rib all round it.
OH had a dizzy yesterday, I ate my supper and left his to re-heat when he got up. He is going to wash the car this morning, its very dusty, but in a couple of days its going to be just as bad. The inside will get a going over with the little hand dyson I bought him, that little cleaner is so useful, often saves me having to get the big dyson out to clear up bits that have been dropped on the floor, especially in the kitchen. I do not want a problem with mice, so keep the kitchen floor free from anything mice might find attractive.
Nothing much to do this morning, might go and do a bit of weeding, the weeds are shooting up evrywhere, that d*** feverfew. I would not be so bad if I still suffered from migraine.........
Ofsky for a coffee and get the hand trowel to attack the weeds......................have a good day......Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning All
I hope everyone is well.
We did the car boot on Saturday and made £126 profit. A very good day indeed.
Started to watch the football on Sunday, but OH got the face on and turned it off, I only knew when a goal was scored when I heared the neighbours either boo'ing or cheering! That put a dampner on things for a few days!
DS reckoned he packed for Switzerland, only to find 1 bottle of showergel, 2 t-shirts and a pair of shoes. So he may be half naked, but at least he'll smell nice!
I won some fence panels on freecycle, should be fetching those later. the nighbours (DLB) allready have the plinths (gifted to them from another neighbour), we only need to buy the posts now. So what we thought was going to be an expensive job, has now turned out cheaper.....
DW & WM on, a load pegged out. Swept & mopped kitchen & hall. Not sure whats for dinner later. Ive gone off my food alately and no motivation to cook either.
Beemuzed - I can sympathise where the kitchen is concerned. No water or cooking facilities for a whole week for us, and everything stored in the living room, it was a nightmare. Luckily when we had our kitchen fitted, OH's parents were away, so we did all our cooking at their house. I hope you get sorted soon
Taplady - OH wanted to try potatoes this year but never got round to doing it, maybe next year hey? Enjoy yours!
DS sports day today, Im gutted as I couldn't get the day off. Im sure she'll dous proud again.
Have a great day all xxx
