JSA signed off now dont know what to do

Hello.

Ive been a long term lurker but I need some help.

Everything has gone wrong :(

I was signing on for about 7 months but just before the weekend I was offered a job for 35 hours a week, this was advertised through the jobcentre so I thought it was a legitimate position, so went and signed off, and my adviser said I could get some help with some work clothes but because of the short notice I would have to buy them myself and have the funds reimbursed when I take receipts in.

Great i though so I went and bought some stuff, worked 28 hours the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and was told that I would get a call Tuesday to arrange more shifts, I received a call and they said they cant offer me the hours after all, I now realise they were short staffed for a busy festival weekend and I have been used :o

Im out of pocket for the clothes I bought, will these still be refunded by the jobcentre now this job doesnt exist? I spent my last bit of money on them.

The employer said I wouldnt get paid for my time until the end of next month along with the other employees. can I do anything about this?

When will my last JSA payment come through because I literally have a couple of quid to my name?

Do I now have to put in a new claim, I feel too ashamed to do this after what happened, after being signed on for so long I feel the jobcentre staff though I was a lost cause but I tried and was happy to tell them about this job and that they wouldnt see me again, now I have to go back with my tail between my legs, I feel awful over something that wasnt my fault.

Thank you for any help :)

As it was advertised through the Jobcentre then Iam sure this will go some way to backing you up? Go back to the jobcentre and make a claim for a 'rapid reclaim' of JSA - this will speed up the process and stop you having to fill in endless forms again.

Just be honest with them..nothing to be ahsamed of! :)

Unless they were very specialist workwear I fail to see how you are out of pocket. What makes what you purchased unique to that position?

Rapid reclaims can be very quick.

Get a rapid reclaim in ASAP. You might feel a bit down about the whole situation now but you might feel worse when you don't have any money coming in and have to pay bills, etc!
