Hi,
We've just booked to got to Las Vegas for 5 nights in October. We're flying from Heathrow via Chicago on the way there and via Washington on the way back - all with United airlines.
We've never been on a connecting flight before, can anyone let us know the process? Bit concerned as we only have 1hr 20mins in between flights on the way out, 3 hrs on the way back so less of a worry!
Do we have to claim our bags and check them in again at Chicago and Washington? Do we have to go through security again? Passport control etc?
Any info would be much appreciated!
Thanks :-)

You may miss the connection, unless UA regularly hold the ORD-LAS flight, is it the last UA flight of the day to LAS?
You go through immigration then collect your bags, go through customs and then drop your bags onto the drop point for UA domestic flights, you then follow the signs for the gate for LAS on the boarding card they give you at LHR.
On the way home you don't have to collect your bags just follow the signs for the gate for the LHR flight.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
we did las vegas back in 2001 with UA. We flew Teesside to heathrow, to chicago and then LV. Came back via San Fran. Have to say I was a bit worried when we got to chicago. The main problem being immigration. I cant remember how long our change was but it was tight. We then had to collect our suitcase from the carousel, put it through security and then back on a belt to get to the next plane. We managed to make the plane, a basic 737 with no tvs etc, but the flight was only a couple of hours. If it isnt the last flight of the day then UA will just bump you to their next flight.0
