raised a NPB alert, then negged, got one in return... i love ebay

sold a twin screen in car dvd system on ebay, auction stated that i no longer accept paypal and only chq or bank transfer. Only got three bidders and it closed at 130.00 and he won and the he emailed me to say sorry but he only felt safe paying with paypal so wont go on with it. I gave a second chance offer to the next buyer but they come back to me saying it seemed suspect because it just sold, i explained the situation to him but he wasnt having any of it. I emailed the einning to say thanks for bidding but its serioulsy screwed my auction up because Anyway I read a thread on here the other day saying that if you raise a NPB and the buyer doesnt reply then you can raise a neg without a neg in return, so thats what i did and well i got a neg back, didnt think this could happen.

He can neg you, but if he fails to respond to Ebay, the neg will be removed. If he responses, however, the neg will stay.

from your title, the thing youd did wrong was to neg immediately after you raised a NPB, you should have waited for 7 days to pass first.

i close the dispute after seven days without a response from him so i thought he couldnt leave one.
now the idiot keeps sending me silly mails saying from different addresss sayign that from now on he has spare accounts which hes going to ruin future auctions. thats ok because i have another account i can use.

sorry my mistake, i actually sent a mutual agreement instead and he agreed to it. i'm such an idiot, oh well lesson learned.

while i'm here, i've seen on some feedback that you get someone leave feedback and then they reply to it and then the person that left the feedback leaves another line, how do you do that, cant see it anywhere

"If a buyer does not respond to an Unpaid Item notification and the seller closes the case with an Unpaid Item strike, the buyer can still leave a feedback comment about the transaction, but any feedback rating they leave will not appear and will not count toward the seller?s feedback score. An eBay administrative note will appear under the buyer?s feedback comment, explaining that the buyer did not participate in the Unpaid Item process."

did you close the dispute with "I no longer wish to communicate with or wait for the buyer."?

What a shame. As you have unfortunately found out a mutual NPB doesn't stop the buyer from leaving a neg whether or not they respond. He could also have stopped you getting back your FVFs as well if he had wanted, so count yourself lucky on that one!

well the buyer out of the blue has now requested a feedback withdrawal which i was thinking about but thought he wouldnt agree to. anyhow he seems to be thinking along the same lines as I was so the feedback score has gone, the feedback itself is still there. (which luckly we both kept to the facts rather than trying to get one up on each other).

like you say it could have been worse and has taught me a very good lesson.

Go to 'feedback' from the options on the left, then the 'Go to Feedback Forum' link which is next to the Leave Feedback button.

Once there you'll see 'Reply to feedback received' & 'Follow up to feedback left'.
