Kaspersky Installation Problem

Hi,
I'm about to flip with this so please help if you can. I am trying to install Kaspersky 2010 and find that during the installation process it crashes, the screen freezes and the only way I can switch off my computer is to use the on/off button.
I have used the Norton Removal Tool as 360 was my old package and I also used McAfee removal tool as it revealed that this was installed even though nothing showed up in the programmes section.
Thinking that perhaps I had a virus, I have used the Malwarebyes.org programme which revealed absolutely nothing.
I have closed all the running programmes and even uninstalled INFcache1 as the Kaspersky website said that this might cause problems.
Is there anything else I might not have done correctly? Have I bought a duff CD-ROM?
I'm on Vista BTW.
Help please!

Given that you've had to force a power-off several times, have you run chkdsk (or whatever the equivalent is called in Vista) to make sure that you have no filesystem corruption?0

Just done it. Nothing came up.
I'll have to log off now as I have no protection.

In that case - as you're already committed to Kaspersky - I'd download their free 30-day trial and see if that installs, and - assuming it does - then contact Kaspersky for their recommendation on how to proceed.
If it doesn't, I'd request a refund and install Avast! for free.0 -

Here is the solution to your problems.0 -
Please open malwarebytes, goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the last log
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -
Thanks for your help. I've sorted it now. I had a rogue anti-virus thingy which only Malwarebytes brought up the second time I scanned my system. I got rid of it and the CD-ROM loaded this time.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0
