Refund from Easyjet (NOT ASH RELATED!)

I was due to go to Spain with 2 friends to do some skydiving in late July, except that one of my friends has torn a ligament in his shoulder so now needs surgery and obviously can't go. The whole idea was we all do it together so myself and my other friend want to cancel and do it another time next year.

I want to cancel the flight but the easyjet website says they don't offer refunds, regardless of the fact I'd be giving them 4 weeks notice!

Surely this can't be right?? Does anyone know how I can force their arm? If it helps I paid for all 3 flight tickets on my American Express cashback credit card...

Matt

Your friend's travel insurance will cover the cost of his tickets, but I'm reasonably sure they won't offer a full refund for everyone as there's nothing stopping you going without him.

Most airlines do not offer refunds on discounted tickets. Fully-flexible tickets are available on most big carriers (not not low-cost ones), but they come at a premium.

This was all explained in the T&C you signed up to when buying the tickets.

    edit

You are entitled to a refund of the tax associated with the flight - however Easyjet charge an admin fee to cover it which will be most likely equal to the value of the tax refund.

Well either you all go anyway, and only two of you jump, or if your friend is upset by this, then none of you go, and your friend reimburses you for any financial losses.

I'm not sure his travel insurance will even pay out, as the torn ligament isn't stopping him actually taking the flight to Spain. It's just stopping the sky dive.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You could try asking them if you can reschedule the flight tickets for a later date, to a date when you can all go. They may say no, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

you should be able to do this - there will be fees and a possible difference in price and sometimes it will work out cheaper to scrap the ones you have (reclaiming the taxes) and start again but it is worth looking at
