Linksys WRT54GS, faster??

I have a Linksys WRT54GS router running on virgin media. I see on the web that this router can be customised by changing the firmware.

But is there a firmware that will increase the speed of the router? I dont want any additional features, just increase the speed.

That page has some ridiculous claims, such as running the router with a higher internal clock speed will somehow make your line run faster.

The claims on QOS are probably highly suspect, as I doubt there are any ISPs that rely on the settings in ~your~ router. They all police QOS and bandwidth shaping at ~their~ end of the line.

And any router upgrade that includes the question "Bricked your router while trying to upgrade to DD-WRT?" would be one to avoid, IMO...

DD-WRT is awesome software, but if you're not going to use any of the extra features it's pointless installing it.

That page is written by a moron. He even *recommends* using WEP.

He's also plain lying about overclocking the router speeding up your internet.
