Modern engines and synthetic oils mean that large intervals are routine, and you wont do any good by changing more often than the manufacturers spec especially with synthetic oil.

You dont get the burr form the engine either like you used to get, while it was the case in the past (ie 70's and before) you needed to do regular oil changes its nothing like that now.

People can get a wee bit silly about this, its the dont run your fuel tank low and supermarket petrol is inferior debate.

I take the approach that as there is actually so little to do at a service as I pointed out earlier, why not treat the car to an extra oil change or 2. It may not do any good, (I think it does), but it certainly can't do any harm. Engines are expensive to replace, a little insurance doesn't go amiss.

Correct spec full synth oil bought in 5 gallon drums off the net works for me.

I'm with you on the fuel issue. I've run all my cars down to the red light and below ever since they started putting low level warnings on cars. Not had an issue yet inspite of using the cheapest local petrol.
