Unusually, Cityboy has missed something. Your flight was scheduled to land in London, and thus is covered by the EU regs. Unfortunately, I really don't think that even they are going to be of much use.
I believe that people are covered on a non-EU airline on the outbound journey only
this was a quote re the recent ash delays referring to the EU regs
People flying into the European Union from overseas are also covered by the rules, as long as they are travelling on a European airline. Passengers on non-EU carriers leaving from an EU airport are also covered0
