New PCI USB card help

Options
Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice, I just bought a cheap ( £3 something) PCI USB card off ebay, I installed it fine and apart from the fact the ports are upside down ( why on earth) its seems to be fine.

My issue is that if I have my keyboard and mouse plugged into it they won't work during boot up. I think this has got something to do with USB legacy support, is it the case that some cheap pci cards just won't allow this or is there a setting somewhere, I can't seem to find one specific to the PCI card in the BIOS.

I guess for most people this wouldn't be a problem but my wireless card doesn't have signed drivers so I need to disable only the use of signed drivers each time the computer boots up.

Many thanks.

You could always permanently allow unsigned drivers.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Well I'm kinda looking for a solution, I mean if I have to I'll just move things around so that the mouse and keyboard are plugged into a motherboard USB.

As for permanently disabling digital signing well as far as I can tell it isn't really possible or easy, and until I get around to getting a wireless card that works I don't mind disabling it each time. And besides there are many other reasons why its necessary that the keyboard is operational before the operating system loads.

The mother board will not activate/operate your USB PCI card, it will only know it is there, only the operating system will be able to use it, so you must use the USB ports on the motherboard for your keyboard and mouse. You do not normally need any extra drivers for the PCI USB extra port cards, as these are in the windows operating system and have been since WIN98/WinME.
