Making a new internal doorway

Havn't had a quote yet but could someone give me a rough idea of what this might cost?
I want to put a door from a bedroom to an adjoining box room and fill in the existing door to the box room.
The box room is a tiny L shape that goes over the stairs and I could make better use of the space (as a computer room) with the entrance from the bedroom instead of the landing.
Any advice appreciated!

Not sure what walls are made of except to say they are solid (not partition) if that makes sense.
House was built in mid fifties - red brick. Sorry! not much help!0 -
If its non-load bearing then its almost certainly breeze. Your best bet is to invite three people in to quote you for the job then you have something to compare. Not sure what walls are made of except to say they are solid (not partition) if that makes sense.

If your walls are made of brick, and thier not load bearing? ie, wall above, and you insert a concrete lintel then block up the other doorway and plaster both side and fit a new door with all furniture, eg hinges, handles to the new doorway. be expected to pay £200 and £280
Ask for a written quotation with full details; start/finish date, fixed price, and buy your own materials if you can, ask the builder for a list for you to get, if he wont give you a list ?? approach with caution, or find someone who will. (not an estimate)
good luck0 -
forgot to say the prices given would be for labour only.
materials would cost around ?? £75-000 -
Thanks for that! bat out of hell. I just wanted a "guestimate" before I got proper quotes as will need to weigh up if it's worth going to the trouble for what space I would gain.
Doesn't seem too bad what you estimated - will have to have a good think!
Thanks again for your help!0
