Just had another idea /thought.......it takes a while!
If your prescription has not changed too much don't just save the old glasses for spares but use them for middle distance work. I was about to put a pair of glasses in Specsavers charity box when the optician told me to keep them! First optician to save me money- I use the new glasses for close & reading and the older ones for computer work.

  • I got sick of changing my glasses every year or so due to them discolouring and the plating coming off and the nose pads turning green (I sweat alot and also have acid skin). Cheap metal frames also cause an allergic reaction (I have the same problem with watches - its the nickel apparently).

Anyway I went on the optician's advice and opted for Titanium Rimless glasses by Silhouette. After they'd picked me up off the floor (over £400) they explained I could pay by direct debit over 10 months interest free, and next time I'm due lenses I can just use the same frame again.

They are so much lighter and more comfortable and so far haven't discoloured (nearly 2 years) they are well worth it. I'd search out an optician that does interest free credit or a savings scheme and get the best you can afford - afterall we all want to look nice don't we and they are on your face? You wear them every day and you only get one pair of eyes! I use Conlons in Liverpool - check out their wesbite (conlons.co.uk) they have quite a few branches.

I already have my glasses but thanks. They are plastic frames with no nose pads (just kinda curves where they fit on) so I don't need to worry about discolouring or allergic reactions etc. I'll try post a pic of them later. The Asda guy gave me a Vivenne Westwood case/cloth for free (:D) as when he adjusted the frames they would no longer fit in the Asda box hehe. He said that happens quite a lot though lol. I'm pretty happy with them although I haven't worn them much yet as I' not used to them. They do make the TV a lot clearer though :D

I think you can buy plasters to go on to the nose pads.
