"I have had this, the only way I got the key out was by taking the plastic housing off and tapping the barrel with a small hammer until you hear a small click.
I then had to get mine replaced, got it done by a dealer."0 -
Very unlikely I know, but if your van is automatic and the gear stick isn't properly in the P position, then it may not let you take the key out. Someone on here had that issue not so long ago, and I know our work pool car is the same.
As I said, not very likely, but better to suggest it anyway. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Another simple one to try,
wiggle the steering wheel whilst trying to get your key out, it worked for me once.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Happens all the time on Vauxhalls too. Its where you have a load of keys attached to the car key, the weight of the keys messes up the pins inside the barrel.
Like McKneff suggested, wiggle steering wheel to see if you can get the steering lock to disengage the pins.
Failing that, you will need to get it recovered to the dealers - they will need to take the housing apart and replace it0 -
I used to work at an AA workshop and they had loads of LDV's on the fleet. We used to keep an ignition barrell on the shelf for them because they used to go so regularly. If I remember correctly it's the tumblers inside that wear or break up and dont allow the key back out. New ignition barrell and key me thinks...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

Normally you can turn the key to position one or two, push in a detent with a paperclip and the whole barrel can come out. You can then drive it (using a screwdriver to turn the electrics on) and get a replacement from the dealer. On vehicles with a particular kind of immobiliser, you will have to tape the key near the original position of the switch so the system can "see" it.0
