Save The Date Poem - what do you think?

Hi everyone!
To try and save a bit of money, we have decided that we are going to send out a 'Save The Date' email, instead of a card. Also, as we are getting married in January, by the time we'd sorted and sent Save The Date cards, it'd probably be time to send out the invitations anyway!
So.... I was having a think about what to write in the email and it turned into a little poem. I know there are a few people on here who are quite good at putting poems together, so I thought I'd share it and see if anyone had any constructive criticism!
What do you all think?
With just 6 months to go until the big day,
We are sending out this message just to say,
We hope you can join us and share in the fun,
Even if there is more likely to be rain than sun!
Whatever the weather, we'd love you all to be there,
To share in our joy as our love we declare.
The invitations will follow in plenty of time,
But we wanted to let you all know with a rhyme!
January 15th is the date we have set,
At half past two Marc and I shall be wed.
We'll continue the party with food, drinks and cake,
And dance the night away until our feet start to ache!
There is a choice of hotels if you need somewhere to stay
After the party for your weary head to lay.
We'll pre-book some rooms so there's plenty of space
Please let us know if you'd like to reserve you a place
If you need any more info just give us a shout
We don't want anyone feeling left out
We'll continue the planning, dotting i's, crossing t's
And see you all soon, from Mr & Mrs Hartley-to-be!

I think it's very nice, the only thing I'd do is say 'At half past two Marc and 4nnabella shall be wed.' because then it's more like it's coming from the 2 of you, not just you IYKWIM!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Yes, that's a good point. I'd been trying to write it from a third person point of view. Thanks!!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0

It is lovely but I do think that if you're doing an email, then maybe you should plan to re-send it every month or so. People can be rubbish at remembering and if it's really important to you for them to be there, then your date has to be at the forefront of their minds.
I sent out STD fridge magnets a year before the wedding and still one family 'forgot' and booked a holiday and my own half-brother arranged to play in a rugby match halfway during the day!

Thanks Minxy_Bella! That is a very good point! We are going to be sorting the invitations within the next few weeks and sending them out so hopefully people will remember not to book a holiday.
Plus with the wedding being in January, I don't think too many people will be planning on going away so soon after Christmas! Or at least I hope not!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Really lovely poem... well done!!
Quick question if you don't mind..... do you send STDs to everyone, and how do you politely do it so that you can let people know what they are invited to? We are having a Wedding Breakfast for 40/50 then an evening buffet for abput 100...not done guest list yet.... and don't want people to think they are invited to everything.... not good at this planning a wedding lark so appreciate your help! x x♥.0 -

Thanks Bride2be24!
Hi snoopysox! Unfortunately I'm not sure what to suggest here. We are inviting approx 75 people and they are all invited to the whole day, we're not having any extra evening guests. Could you have two different STD cards, one for the all day invitation and one for the evening?:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Sweet poem!
I'd say make sure you put the important details in the email subject though.
You'd be amazed how mayn people open an email, but still dont read it properly (guilty as charged m'lud!)
Something like:
"On 15 Jan 2011 Marc and 4nnabella are getting married!"
Also, add an "Important info" bit below to make sure people know what's going on (you mention booking hotels) & make it clear that they need to contact you if they want to book a room.
eg
Date
Location
Hotel details
