    Incpacity benefit is based on NI (unless IB Youth) and isn't based on savings or partners income or savings.

    i.m always reading about incapacity benefits being cut etc and just wondered whether it was just being used as an umbrella term for everyone who claims sickness.

    No it isn't claimants have to claim ESA as IB is no longer claimable for new applicants.
