After reading this thread i rang my local odeon as regards to the CEA card and was told they arent too fussed whether you have the card or not as proof of disability as long as you can show some entitlement. So went along yesterday with letter and didnt even need to show it, explained OH was on DLA and girl on desk said ok no worries and even worked out cheapest way for 5 of us to go and see shrek. So Hubby, me and 3 teenagers all went in for £21.xx instead of £36. Further £5.50 saved if not purchasing CEA card.

Also emailed the transport section of Local council to enquire about companion card for bus travel to get an abrupt 'no we dont do them' as a reply not even a politely worded reply.

Essex cc have no klnowledge of a seperate disabled accreditation card scheme. Does anybody know how I can get them to start one

Hi alwdlnd59, Following learning about a yellow disabled accreditation card from this thread, I emailed my local council, and recived a very prompt and informative reply, giving me details and a phone No. to contact Social Services. Sometimes, as like the area I live in, Social Services is a county council dept. as opposed to your local council. Try contacting social services directly and enquire about "The Yellow Card." It may be that you're dealing with a council employee who's totally unaware of the yellow card and employed in a wrong department.
Hope this helps you like it did me. I enquired this morning and they're sending me the forms in the post.

Also, as a moneysaving disciple of this site, may I say a great thank you to all the participants of this thread, as it has greatly helped my self confidence, and given me more scope with which to help me achieve more knowledge with the aid of these threads.
Make more time, and the gains will be fine! Shellyus - Have a nice day.....:money:

Complete a Carers Card (no charge) at Queens Theatre, Hornchurch, Essex and the carer gets a free ticket to any production, with concession rates for the disabled person too.

Row "E" is super for anyone who cannot bend their knees (whether registered disabled, or not) as there is a wide walkway in front of the row, and wheelchair users can be accommodated at either end, with the theatre seats removed, for even more room.

The staff are very helpful here, and do their utmost to assist you when booking.

Many thanks to all the contributors on this thread. It's so helpful to readers.

    xx

Could anyone tell me how I get a Medex Card?
I had one previously but it has now expired.
I have been into my doctors to ask and they didn't know.
My previous card was applied for on my behalf by a Social Worker when I was in hospital and I no longer have a Social Worker. I rang the local Social Services and they told me to ring the DWP who told me they didn't do it.
    I now feel totally confused.:wall:

As the card lasts for 5 years any letters that were received have been lost in subsequent house move.

I have my letter, and it just says they'[ll write to you when you need a new one so it isn't helpful anyway!

It says call their enquiry line on 0845 6018076 if you have any problems.
