I'm doubtful that their revenue growth will continue at such a rate in the future.

There is a reason that BLT was the last share bought in my "spree", however, a balanced portfolio lacking a miner just didn't seem right.

Businesses need resources thats why. If they have rising costs its likely from the commodity producers who are then in demand to produce more

BLT (BHP) looks very overpriced compared to Rio Tinto, at least in PE terms anyway.

BLT has oil and gas, their costs are cheaper? RIO biggest purchase recently was a massive aliminium company, not as likely to be useful and they got more debt I think which if we are taking these as dividend stocks that is more of a worry

I own tons of BLT, sold some today but maybe one of the best stocks to buy. I owned them in 2008 through the Asia pacific index and I did very well on that

Volatile as they rely on the whole idea of growth but in the end I see their ability to pay this dividend as solid for years to come because they have a product everyone wants.
If USA or euro declines, it can sell just as well elsewhere

RIO and BLT are both undervalued. They fall like bank shares but they have none of the same leveraged trouble or reliance on governments

4th largest Iron ore reserves belong to FXPO I think, I think they were the biggest bargain recently. Not diversified like blt though

And down 25% tomorrow because a broker has a difficult bowel movement.

Directors have a very bad reputation for being able to foresee the future of their own companies.

True, enough, and it ought to be my family motto, but maybe with a "c" rather than a "k".

However, after much research and careful contemplation, my family motto is now "seize the carpe diem".

Ivader, unless I've missed something the RNS relates to his wife finding a grand in her back pocket and buying 3800 shares. Not likely to really be the source of the lift today.

Perhaps there is news leaking or it is in anticipation of the presentation on Friday?

If you only hold one miner for now it has to be BLT for both long term growth and dividend.

Yup I think I have come to the same conclusion. I'm looking for resources rather than mining specifically, so it's also their diversity that attracts me. However, I'm still considering going down the CYN/FXPO split I outlined previously.

They're currently in the process of expanding their operation to cover more of this reserve, with the aim to double their production...

I think FXPO has great growth potential. However, as you righly pointed out, there's a much greater risk and volatility associated with a small single-product miner. I'm hoping to achieve a balance via CYN.

I admit I only had a quick look, didn't really analyse it. Lets face it it doesn't take much for aim shares to rise (or fall).

Good to see BEM continuing its rise today on the back of the updated Iron ore study by RMG (Sweden).

Can't wait for the JORC now.
