Debit card Fraud in Majorca

  • I didn't do use it four times and although it seems very much to the contrary, I am not an idiot or a mug. I could have taken a hit of £1K, which would have been exorbitant, but £4k?

I can't prove they somehow used my PIN either though, so I guess I'm stuffed. I know it gets expensive when you buy the girls drinks, but one round of £2,500? That can't be justified!

So you only used your card once? How much was this for?

The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th transactions were fraudulently undertaken by someone else?
    .....

  • That's what I think happened as I would have noticed a payment of £2500.

Can your bank confirm the actual times the card was used??

  • They haven't been very helpful. I faxed them a request this morning and haven't heard back. Spoke to one guy and he said it was unlikely they'd be able to do anything to help.

If they could confirm the times it might help to prove the rip off. I will chase them up this afternoon, I've been trying to be calm and relaxed so they are more likely to help me out, but I do need to get some answers.

Surely if a large UK institution were to do some investigation and actually call the establishment, they might just cut their losses (or ill gotten gains in this case) and refund the money, or at least some of it?
  • I'm kidding myself - it's gone.

Keep on pressuring your bank and disputing this with them...you've nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.

You should start by naming and shaming the bar, in case other people are planning on paying by card when drunk.

I would write to the owner of the bar, highlighting the fraudulent transactions, and telling him that unless you receive a full explanation for these transactions, then you will be contacting the local police.

If you start contacting the local police though, you'll need to do it in the local language!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Not necessarily. Phone 00 34 902 102 112 and ask for English you get a English speaker. Report it as a crime after the fact.
