Ebay refund and postage?

I ordered a speaker/docking unit for my white Ipod nano on Ebay.

There seemd to be two colour options on Ebay, black or grey speakers so of course I went for the grey, but the information on the speakers didn't specify a colour although the picture was of the grey speakers, so I emailed the seller this question..

"Can you tell me if the speaker grill is grey as in the photo, or is it black? Please can you get back to me as soon as possible, Thank you!"

the reply was..

"Hi The front is grey"

Short but sweet but at least it was the right colour so I ordered it. It came today and was black.

I didn't want a black one (I already ordered a grey one from amazon and got sent a black one too, I sent it back)

Can I have a refund and will my postage back to the seller be refunded. Surly it should be as the seller knew that I wanted the grey.

Thank-you!!

Sarah

  • Cant you just email the seller? If they have a good feedback record Im sure they would swap. I would if i was the seller
  • I have, no reply yet. Of course I would rather just have an swap for the right colour but should I pay the return postage when its not my fault?

they *should* refund you your return postage too.

if they don't offer to, then ask them to, and if they don't get your money back then neg them along the lines of - 'Seller sent out wrong item, but wouldn't refund return postage costs! Avoid'
  • The guy has replied, said he told me the colour that was on the box, he didn't, he told me it was grey and the photo on the box is black.

He said as far as he knew they don't make them in grey, but the photo on the listing is grey!! I have emailed him again. and told him that if he refunds me in full + postage I will leave postive feedback because at least he will have solved the isses to a certain extent. Is that resonable?

I would hate to have to leave negative feedback, never had to do it before and he is bound to leave me negative feedback too even though I have done nothing wrong, unless you considere wanting the right colour, the colour I thought I was getting wrong. I have 100% positive feedback so far so would hate that to be blighted.
