Should doorstep sellers be banned?

Does this include the dodgy looking leaflets which get pushed through my door 15x a week? is that not doorstop selling too?
I think an outright ban would be too 'nanny state' for my liking but a licence could help protect people such as the elderly from scammers and chancers, although there would need to be a system to check the licence as I am sure they could be easily faked which sort of defies the point.0 -
There should be an option on the poll combining B & C, I think sellers should be licensed and no cold callers sign should be enforceable (if you ignore them your licence gets revoked)If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.
If you do like it please hit the thanks button.0 -
I hate them Since going on maternity leave ive been disturbed more times then i care to count most of them are inconsiderate ive taken my poor baby to the door mid feed and they still dont just go when i tell them im busy i evem had one that woke her up from a nap by knocking so loud then still didnt take the hint when she started screaming needless to say i just shut the door. I think i will be getting a sign0

Well I am inclined to ban all of them. But what about the nice (local) people who come round every year to sell me raffle tickets for the church fete or collect money for lifeboats or poppy sales?? I am happy to give them some cash.0

The sellers which use ex-convicts to sell items should definitely be regulated in some way, the role of constant rejection is too demoralising for them and hardly a good way to turn a new leaf. They are being exploited and the products they sell extortionate with little margin in any sale for them so no one is satisfied with the little purchases anyone ever makes.
As for the energy salesman, well they are just a pain, we have switched providers twice in 10 years and every time the administration totally went to pot, so we will stick with what we have, the hassle is not worth the merge savings0 -
I voted B but I'd like to see B and C introduced."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

I don't like to ban anything. However, if I want a product/service, then I will shop around and find it. If I don't know about something, then chances are I don't need or want it.0

I think that all doorstep sellers should be banned, including the various religious groups which canvass for converts on the doorstep - I find this type of "seller" an absolute pest! The arrogance and presumption of these people is insulting.0

Please think carefully about this cold calling ban business. I feel very strongly that as we grow older people, with all good intentions, raise our anxiety levels. This to me is a great disservice and leads to social isollation and being housebound. I would prefer to retain control over my own front door and cherish the opportunity of meeting new people and retaining links with the community. I heard someone recently on Noth West news saying that carol singers were imposing on people! We are solitary enough. Please do not 'keep me safe' any more, thanks all the same0

what about the people who say I'm not selling i am offering a free survey of you walls etc. but for a company you know is then going to try to sell you something. they just keep saying but i am not selling, if you point out the sign. they should be banned too.0
