I know, I've just come back to this as I jumped the gun in my last post.
If the OP is in need of the benefits for her family then she should have them.
Lloyds TSB told me that we could use my hubby's IB as part of our income when applying for our next mortgage. We had planned to put ours on the market this month but his latest seizure has put paid to it as he'll be out of action for months now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

To try and move away from the benefits discussion...
It could also be that banks are waiting until they know what is going on with the current government. It already appears they will need to have 130 billion saved in good investments so that the public doesn't have to bail them out again, and currently benefits are going under massive changes.
So perhaps rent out for the next six months, and then see what's going on? It may be once the dust has settled more lenders will accept benefits.0 -
As much as I detest benefit scroungers and those who see it as a lifestyle choice, let's not forget that there are many genuinely disabled people out there who should get all the help and support they need.
Seems to me like the OP is doing his/her best to downsize. Lets not tar everyone with the same brush or no genuine person will feel able to ask for help on these boards.
