Any chance of purchasing a ground floor flat for a while with the revenue of your house, just to give you time to build up some cash funds in order to then move to a bungalow?

Its is mainly yes, DLA,housing benefit, tax credits, child benefit. Small NHS pension.

Are you sure you mean housing benefit? You would not receive this if you had a mortgage, though you may receive SMI.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Just wondering but is the 2k a month income from benefits?

How old are the children you are claiming tax credits for? You've got to look at it from a lender perspective, your children will grow up and you lose money, you could get better and lose money. The benefits you claim are for your personal circumstances to help you live, they shouldn't leave you with enough to buy a house - I'm not being judgemental or anything but a lender might wonder how you will pay the mortgage if your circumstances change (could be out of your control and benefits are reduced by the government).

What sort of value are we talking for the house you are selling? How much equity in it? How much is the bungalow?

2k from benefits per month is crazy. That needs reviewing shall we say. Most ppl dont earn that and they work for it!

I dont often respond to comments like this but I think its wrong to state £2k a month in benefits a month is crazy. We know nothing about the op's situation and although the media finds examples of people exploiting the system the vast majority are not living a life of luxury and they need these benefits to live.

How else are the disabled expected to live and support their children?
