Help with Oven repair advice please?

My girlfriend and I just moved into a new house, the oven that was given to us is broken (it was not included in the rental agreement). It is a delonghi ES1602W, the hobs work great, the top oven works fine but is too small, but the large bottom oven won't heat at all, the fan and light come on but no heat which leads me to think it could be the element.
Can anybody advise me who I should get to check this for me to make sure it is the element? And maybe does anybody know any cheap online shops for spare cooker bits and bobs (other than ebay as I've already looked), we are so skint at the moment that we need to save anything we can.
We both love cooking/baking and we are so desperate to have a working oven so any help anyone can offer would be really helpful.
Cheers in advance!

My built in oven is ancient but still looks good. I was really surprised to be able to get a new element. I asked the manufacturer - I think it was Tricity and it was them or the parts company they sent me to who supplied it. So, this is the route to go; Google De Longhi and on their site just ask the question. With a bit of luck they will help - simples!0

Great thanks for all the help, Just wondering what kind of technician/handyman would I need to come out and check the oven if necessary?
Cheers.0 -
It's probably the element, but it could also be the oven thermostat [open circuit] don't use a handyman for this type of work, check out your local rag many washing machine repairers do ovens.0

Hi, did you manage to get this sorted? We have exactly the same problem, we have had the cooker for over ten years and it has served us well, but sadly the larger fan oven stopped working about 5 years ago and we have just managed with the smaller one. But I have now committed myself to baking for xmas fairs for the next couple of weeks and getting the larger oven working again will make life so much easier for me.
Thanks in anticipation!!0 -
Hi There
We're skint so we've decided just to persist with the top oven until we have the spare money for repairs, sorry I have can't offer any advice. Best of luck with the baking though.0 -
Does your oven have removable panels on the inside? usually on the bottom held in by 2 screws, if so remove panel and you should be able to see the element, switch oven on (high heat) and you should be able to see if it glows.
They usually fit with 2 screws into the back of the oven, but you have to pull the oven out, remove back panel to get to the electrical connectors ( usually just spade terminals)
It took me 10 minutes to change the element in my range cooker ( took 20 minutes to get it out though! quite heavy!) and then another hr to clean down the sides of it as Wifey saw the stains down the sides!!!!)˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ
