He's doing ok thanks for asking. I'm jiggered after spending last night on a camp bed downstairs whilst Himself occupied the sofa :)

His back leg is shaved and he has an 8 inch scar above his knee. He was quite whiny last night , but much better today. He had to wear a Buster/Elizabethan collar for months last time he had a big op, so I'm trying to be extra kind by leaving it off but watching him like a hawk.

We've been given a 16 week timetable of rest, physio, walking and maybe swimming to bring him back to fitness. Only allowed out of the house twice a day for toiletting for the first two weeks, then a mixture of physio, very short walks building up to 2 x 1 mile per day by Week 8. It's like military boot camp!

Treatment has cost almost £900 so far, but we're on Frequent Claimer points with PetPlan :o . All being well I'll get the first claim off by Monday evening and should have a cheque back in time to pay the credit card.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

Oh bless his heart :). I once knew a dog who after having one of his back legs removed used to try doing a weird 'handstand' to wee before he learned to !!!! his stump instead. Edit: c ock his leg!

Himself had a quiet night and is even 'toe-ing' the floor with his bad leg which I think is a good sign. Mustn't rush though. He needs to take it steady. :)

your dog wouldnt be a retriever by any chance! sounds like marly from the book MARLY AND ME! by the way is a very good book the film really doesnt do it justice!

minamize the area he can wounder and bounce about i.e keep in kitchen when visitors are there, if he goes wild when the door goes ask friends and family to call the house phone when want to visit so you can keep an eye out for the door, not to ring the bell and knock gently.

:o Yes, he's a tall black lab cross (he looks like slim lab with a setter shaped head).

I'm having some trouble keeping him quiet (we had a Wimbledon BBQ yesterday that I couldn't really cancel) and he got a bit giddy, but calmed down quickly. :)

Check up with the vet at 4 o'clock today to see how he's getting on.

The vet is very pleased with how he's getting on. :T

Back in a week for his stitches out and the first of a course of injections to help the regeneration of the synovial (sp??) fluid. And the claim is being sent electronically (who knew that could be done???) and we should have a payment within a week or so. Phew!

It's all looking good so far................... (is keeping finger crossed very tightly).
