Council Tax Benefit Claim form... re: capital in property

After my husband leaving me with two young kids I have recently made a claim for Income support and Council Tax benefit.

I am just filling in the form and I am aware if you have any savings over 16k you cannot claim.... I have NO SAVINGS of any sort.

There was a question which asked how much my home is worth and at a guess it would probably sell at 240k today, it then asks how much mortgage I have on it... I have a 210k interest only mortgage on it.

Does this mean I may be turned down as I kind of have 30k profit in my home which makes it over the 16k capital?

Where as in real life it would mean selling up and paying fees and 50% with the ex and then I would be out of my home with 2 kids and only 10k leftover.

Hope this makes sense and someone can tell me what it means as I have never claimed for anything before and am a bit stuck and stressed.
