Maternity allowance-help.

    spoke to mum+shes called business gateway for advice,
    they said to call HMRC tomorrow+explain shes got no money to pay me,then call her accountant+get the ball rolling to go for bankruptcy.its her only option as shes struggling to pay her creditors.HMRC are one of the people she owes money to aswell for tax.

    Your employer (mother) can reclaim most of the maternity pay, 92% but I think, not sure, that for a small business it might be 100%. I will check and be back. Don't panic.

    Have a look here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/paye/employees/statutory-pay/smp-calc.htm If your mother had a small busiess it looks like she might be able to claim more than 100% of the maternity pay. Good luck, I hope this helps.

    yes she new that about claiming back the money,but as she does not run a small business anymore(she got a job),surley hmrc cant expecy her to pay my maternity pay from her own wage,when shes struggling with debt from the cafe.
    as ive said in first post ive had no money from 21/5/10,luckily i live with my parents(no rent,bills or c/tax to pay,i was paying her £60p/w when i was employed.
    im going to advice shop today to see if im able to claim a benefit to keep me going while this mess gets sorted out.:mad:

    UPDATE.
    mums just been on phone to hmrc, they have confirmed that they will pay maternity pay+not allowance,
    i should receive a letter today,fill it out send it back+then they will write back tell me how much i will get,hmrc says it could take up to 4 weeks,but at least i know im getting it.:j
