Student loan for fees paid direct to uni?

Sorry for being dim but i'm working through the paperwork with my son for his student finance stuff and I appear to be missing a bit of paper.

I just need to confirm that the loan of £3000 that son took for uni fees gets paid direct to the uni, as we can find nothing in writing so far that confirms this. We do have a letter that refers to the additional loan for living expenses etc, and can see that one gets paid in instalments to his nominated student account, but I'm panicking about the course fees.

Soo (I'll probably be back in a mo to ask more stupid questions)

i believe so, starting this year, uni fee's get paid straight to the uni.

best to give your LEA or studentfinance a call just to be on the safe side.
you'll need ur ART id with you and they are open 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on monday to friday, 9am-5.30pm saturday and sunday.

they're quite helpful, give them a call
    good luck!

  • If its the same as mine the fees will paid directly to the uni in 2 instalments -
£1500 in February and another £1500 in May.

    I hope this helps xx

  • Any student starting uni this September can apply for a Tuiton fee loan of upto £3000 from their Lea,this money will be paid directly to the universities via the SLC ,once they have enrolled and the university have confirmed to the SLC that they are attending their course.
If you decided to pay all or some of the fees yourself then you would need to make arrangements for payment with the finance dept at your uni
