Out of work, need to BT a credit card

My employers have recently terminated my contract due to illness. I currently have 3 credit cards which I wish to BT to a 0% card. I've tried to apply for a couple but they don't seem to have a facility to say you are out of work due to illness. (The ask for where you are working and if you don't put in an answer it doesn't let you carry on filling the form in)
With benifits (eg DLA and IB) I am getting just slightly under what I was getting before with my wages from my employers (not too much to make a big difference) Does anybody have any ideas which is the best for me to go with regarding this situation?

Many thanks.

  • Firstly, keep on paying at least the minimum payment to all the companies.

HOwever, for a new card you will generally get declined if not employed.

Unfortunately, I don;t think there is much to be done - apart from trying to play the firms off against each other into finding who can give you the best BT rate if you were to move the other firms balances to that card. However, if you require to increase your credit facility to get the balances moved your employment status will be checked.

I am concerned that you may be over stretched financailly. If you have have a balance on the cards you cannot repay, as you seem to be in here, it does hint at you being over stretched - i.e. outgoings greater than income, hence the balances on credit cards to make things meet.

I recommend you open a post of the Debt Free Wanabee board:

Detail your situation and post your SOA (Statement of Affairs) as recommended in http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280

Some good advice will come along soon.
    Good luck.
