i had a back boiler system replaced with WB 28I greenstar combi middle of april, fitted with a Altech rf programmer/thermostat. This failed approx month later, looking around this seems to be common problem with this programmer and i am not keen to have another. I asked whether i could have a more reliable model and was happy to pay the difference in cost. I could if i paid the price for supply and fit of a new one (i dont expect to pay for the fitting as the unit is faulty), and have now been told i can have another at cost £118 quid, considering the Altech is around £45 ish that works out over £169 quid!
Am i being unreasonable? and can anyone recommend a reliabale theromostat/programmer that doesnt break the bank?
many thanks

Worcester do the MT10RF mechanical RF thermostat which is HERE
As with Worcester they are not cheap, but they are usually decent quality and easy to installbaldly going on...0 -
All the reasonable ones are iro £ 120. Don't take no for an answer - is the work guaranteed or not? is the kit supplied guaranteed or not? You've offered to pay the difference between the two units which is over generous TBH. Stick to your guns on that and don't pay for fitting.

I would recommend the Honeywell CM927. This would be supplied at around £120-£130, then deduct the credit he would get for the faulty one.
I never understand when installers try to put problems or obstacles in the way of warranty work. That afterall is how most customers judge us.
I had on yesterday, programmer went down, about 6 months old. Picked one up and replaced it within 1 1/2hrs. Customer very happy.
Thats what it is all about in my eyes. Anything we fit can go wrong, it's how we deal with it that counts.
My main grumble is with the manufacturers. They are reluctant to pay for my time to replace their faulty product.0
