SAAS funding help

Hi there,
I'll try keep this short.
This is my 2nd year at uni coming up. Just spoke to a friend who got travel expenses back (350 pound or so) just by filling out a form and sending it away, so I thought I'd ask here.
From the income support calculator on the SAAS website, it says that I'm entitled only to the 605 pound non income-assessed loan. I believe this is what I was receiving last year, at 55 pound or so a month.
My question is - am I entitled to anything else such as travel expenses? When I select the option to put a claim for travel expenses on the SAAS website, it states:
"Claims for travel expenses are not accepted from students who have not applied for income-assessed support for this session"
Does that mean if I simply applied for income-assessed support for the previous session (even if I didn't meet the requirements), I would be entitled to it?
I'm studying at a Scottish uni, living with parents.
Appreciate any help
Thanks

From the SAAS page:
Travel expenses are income-assessed, the amount we will pay depends on your, your parents' or husband's, wife's, civil partner's or partner's income. You do not have to take out a student loan to be entitled to travel expenses. When we assessed your main support we told you how much your parents or husband, wife, civil partner or partner would have to contribute. We set this contribution against any loan, bursary or grants you are entitled to, including travel. If you did not give us income details on your main support application form, and you want help with your travel costs, we will need your parents or husband, wife, civil partner or partner to give us their income.0
