Good point! I'm taking Mikeyork's advice and going to manage it all manually. I currently have just under £1000 worth of outgoing payments each month (flexible by a couple of days), so I guess I'll just pay all those from my Santander account over a couple of days, especially since I'll always have my £2,500 interest-earning balance in there as a buffer.Just be careful, neither HSBC or A&L support fasterpayments standing orders. Also, A&L have a max of £250, and that might go when they shift to Santander. You'll have to manage this manually.
Eg.
HSBC £1000 -> Halifax
Halifax £500 -> A&L
A&L £250 -> Halifax
A&L £250 -> HSBC
Halifax £750 -> HBSC

Anyone know how long it takes Santander to open new accounts from the moment someone applies online? I applied 2 days ago, and I'm really struggling to get an update on my application status. Quite keen to get my account details so I can transfer some money in before the weekend!0
