i was made redundant on 21st june and in my contract i should be paid 3 months notice. I have been asked to work 2 weeks of this which will finish on 2nd July. I am also pregnant and wil be due SMP as i am past 25 weeks and due to start maternity leave on 30th July. Does anyone know if i sshould recieve my notice pay with my SMP ontop of it or will it be offset. I was told originally that they will pay my notice as compensation for loss of office so that i could get this tax free. but today i was told i will have to pay tax on my notice becasue they want to claim it back from the governement. Can they do this? I know this is 2 questions but if anyone can help.

Not sure about the first point, but if you are not contractually entitled to PILON, or it is not common practice then it should be paid tax free0
