My brother has decided not to go back to university because he really was not enjoying the whole experience so has moved back home. He wants to find work but has never had a job before so has no idea what he can put on his CV and application forms? He has 10 GCSE's and a BTEC in music technology. I suggested he could volunteer, but he doesn't seem to taken with this idea as it does not change his financial situation. He is not claiming JSA.

Just be honest, say he went to uni, wasn't his thing and is looking for other ways into the job market, via apprenticeships, management training etcThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Why isn't he claiming JSA - what is he living off?
Volunteering is really his best bet and he can do this whilst signing on as long as it doesn't get in the way of his job hunting?0 -

He is at our Dads, so getting fed for free. My brother is a bit of a lazy g*t to be honest unless there is pay as an incentive he can't be bothered, don't even get me started.0 -

You know - the sentiment sort of dripped off your first post! But why are you trying to sort out his life? He's a big boy now. And it sounds like he could do with a swiftly delivered kick in a strategic place, rather than you running around finding out what he could get from half a dozen places without any effort.
PS - Can I have your dad's address - I could do with a rest and a bit of spoiling

lol yeah it does seem that way. My Dad has kind of mentioned that he is getting annoyed that my brother is turning into a layabout but would never give him the kick up the backside he deserves. I feel it may be up to me to tell him to get a job rather than sitting on his computer playing call of duty all day whilst stoned...
Nah I think I am frustrated because I too am unemployed but am applying for virtually everything going and getting nowhere and he is just not bothering at all.0 -

Don't let it bother you, not your problem!
Help him when he asks for your help, if you feel like it. Otherwise its just nagging and he won't listen anyway so you may as well save your breath and look after yourself for the time being!
Good luck with your own job search.
(PS. This advice comes from a fellow cycinal 25 year old female.)0 -

Yes - look to yourself. If he can afford the electricity bill and the funny cigarettes then he doesn't need a job. I have some thoughts on what he needs, but better keep them to myself. Put your effort in to your future - you aren't reponsible for his.0 -
