Issue 2 Online saver (180) has increased to 5.4%.
I have been critical of A&L, and I have to say I was surprised to see them increasing a closed account.
well done A&L. :T

Been pretty impressed with them recently - they really are pushing the boat out in terms of interest rates, just look at the current account paying 6%. Any my ISA is now at 5.45% which is excellent0

I'm NOT online saver (176) 4.40% to 4.65%
online saver issue 2 (177) 4.25% to 4.5%

But that's just it isn't it. It shouldn't really depend when you opened your account as to whether or not you benefit from rate changes or the latest offers. NW has been getting a kicking for not putting rates up quick enough (me included!) but when you see how partisan A&L is being there's something to be said for treating everyone the same (ok, perhaps not great, but at least the same!)
I'd happily settle for a slightly lower rate of consistent interest, than have this jumping around from account to account and the incumbent hassle that it brings for 0.5% or so. A&L are as guilty as hell of doing this on a regular basis - how are they subsidising the headline grabbing rates? Well, one way is to freeze the interest rates of 'dead' accounts (of which A&L have plenty I think) and pass on the 'savings' to new customers. It's not just them, all the banks and Building Societies are guilty of it to one extent or another.0
