chipped key analysis

hi, can anyone answer a query for me? can a chipped key (2003 seat ibiza) be analyzed to be told when the last time your car was opened/ used?

    Possibly if it was a Volvo communicator key.

    It would probably be more likely to be able to find out from the cars ECU when it was last started/opened/used and with which key.

    locknut - do you mean there is no way they can tell the last time the car was used just by using the key?

    took me ages to work out what VAG meant and seat is part of the VAG isnt it....im sorry girly girl here lol

    If your worried someone is using your car using a lost key of anything you can get the old keys removed from the memory of the car so they no longer work.

    my car was stolen and i was speaking to the insurance company today. they said they are sending the main key away for analysis to see when it was last used, but i didnt think they would be able do that. its no big deal, i was just amazed to think that a key would be able to hold that sort of info if you know what i mean lol

    They're probably just trying to call your bluff to try make sure you're making a genuine insurance claim.
