Incapacity Benefit and Deferred State Pension Query

 I am living on long term incapacity benefit and disability living allowance. My state pension is due to start in March 2011 and I realise that the incapacity benefit will stop on this date. However, what would happen if I deferred taking my state pension for a year? Would I still be able to claim incapacity benefit? Anyone seen this problem before? Thanks

You would not be able to claim IB instead of your pension. This question was asked a while ago on here and that was the answer.

If your 60 next March you will not retire until much later, so you will stay on IB until then?

Your IB will stop one day before state pension age., and state pension will then be payable from the first Monday after that.
You can defer your state pension and earn interest, but as healy says, you cannot now claim IB after state pension age.

If you could do what you suggest, you would effectively be paid double for this period.
