Choosing A Current Account

I'd go with Coventry Building Society's First Account as Martin suggests - but we do need a chequebook as well. Any other suggestions?

I've banked with the Halifax for more than 10 years.
Last month, the Hally launched a High Interest current account which I now use. This pays 5.00% gross 5.12 AER on balances up to £2500.

Halifax or Alliance and Leicester unless you want to hold large amounts of money in the account.
In that case use Coventry and have a current account with a high street bank (that doesn't require you to pay in a certain amount of money per month) and just pay into that when you need to write a cheque, most payments can be arranged online. Cheques are becoming increasingly rare.If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

Halifax. For the same reasons stated by Moggles.0

Hi all,
Sorry to jump into someone elses thread, but I figured it really made more sense than starting a new thread on the topic.
I just want a little advice.
I am working as an Avon rep and as I do it all online the payment for each order goes from my account.
I thought it could be beneficial for me to have an account solely for my Avon and then all the money to be paid out would be together so I wouldn't get confused and spend any money that doesn't belong to me, but also where any earnings could be left to build up.
So basically I am looking for a basic current account, but one that doesn't have to have a minimum amount paid in each month.
I'm not too clever at this kind of thing so am relying upon all you financially savvy MSE'rs to point me in the right direction!!!
Thanks all!Dream of being mortgage free....
