Well, I dont know much about these I have to admit
I am looking for a good Media streamer, that plays just about all vid types, MKV to Avi etc so I know I would need a decent one for play MKV files
I also want a 1TB HD, so I can stream straight from the HD rather than my PC... so I know you can get some built in streamers and Hd's in one but they seem abit OTT on price.
Can anyone recommend a good streamer, and a good cheap hardrive?
Thanks!

I got one of these m8,
Top quality plays about any files you put on it including .mkv files.
With this one you can also add an internal hardrive or you can attach an external usb drive to it. It has an HDMI input aswell.

Also, what would be better/cheaper generally a USB stick or External Hd?0 -

The link you attached above is pretty good, the only difference to the one i got is that with the cyclone i don't think you can stream videos to it by wifi.
I sometimes stream tv from my laptop to the streamer by using a program called Tversity, you can basically stream hundreds of channels. But for that price it's a bargain and it will do the job if your not too bothered about wifi. Internal hd are alot cheaper than the externals ones you can buy these days.Save Save Save:o

ok thanks
I currently use my xbox 360 as a media streamer, through wireless internet... but they dont play certain file types and online trying to stream a bluray movie is impossible, as you can imagine... so thought may try a media streamer and hd combo instead, sound like a better idea? Or maybe I would have similar streaming issues?0 -
Popcorn Hour or the WD Live would be my first choices. I currently use an HTPC for HD stuff and XBMC for SD stuff (on different TVs of course!) but if I were starting from scratch I'd go for either of those. Probably the PCH tbh. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

Do the Revos do HD audio now... my money would still be on a Popcornhour A110 for price v supported formats... plus you get to spend hours setting up YAMJ to look pretty!0
