Hello all,
Can any one suggest if 100% Polypropylene carpet is any good for lounge, dining room, hall etc.?
Previously I have had wool mix which gets dirty very quickly.
advice most appreciated.

Because it's man made it won't stain. So it will still get dirty but it should wash well.
There are some great looking carpets out there and we made the switch from 80% wool over to man made fibre because of the kids and the dog making so much mess and the simple fact that the particular carpet doesn't doesn't look any different to the ones we've bought before. When our carpet guy suggested it initially I balked at the thought, but I genuinely couldn't tell the difference with the carpet we ended up buying!
The type of pile that you buy makes a difference as well, I understand. A twist will repel dirt better than open pile carpet etc.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks a lot, what about warmth during the cold weather? I will most likely go for this option, it is cheaper and looks good.

From what I've been told wool carpets tend to feel more natural and warmer. But I have a Polypropylene in my bedroom and it feels great and is better against stains.
It feels just as warm as any other carpet i've had.
My next job is the stairs and I think were going for the same carpet as our bedroom.
Hope this helps0 -

Polypropylene carpets are very good and a long way from carpets of old. The colour goes all the way through the fibres so they are very good for stain removal. We were told (but have never tried) that the only thing that will stain is the hessian backing and you can even clean that with a bleach solution.
Our living room carpet is polypropylene and after 13-14 years still has no stains even though I regularly spill a glass of red wine over it. Only thing is that the pile has now flattened but that would be a criticism of any carpet.

Thanks everyone, I am now going for 100% Polypropylene in my lounge, dining room and hall. I sincerely hope it works out.
Many thanks again for sharing your experiencees.
