Help: Moving into my new house next week: Who is the cheapest?

Hello everyone.

I hope this is the best place to post.

I've just found out that I'm moving into my first house next week (3 beds) and need to decide on who supplies my elec/gas. The house is not new (built in 1950s)

I hadn't really thought about who I should go with until now and panicked. Can anyone advise me?

Thanks!!!!!!

Hi carrot., you need the name of the existing electric and gas providers, and roughly what the present owner uses.
You will have to use your own judgement. EBICO are useful for low users and are allied to Southern Electric.
Look thru the stickies up above, lots of useful info. there.
You also need to agree the meter readings (preferably with present owner)on the day you move in. Don't forget the water meter too and telephone.etc.
You then have the option to carry on with existing providers until you have more time to deal with the matter.
Guess you will be busy anyway.
If you are an organised person and want to start off with a clean sheet, run your anticipated usage thru a comparison site, pick out the cheapest consistent with a decent rating.Agree the date to start etc.Energyhelpline is marked above the forum page. This firm shows all providers , whether they pay commission or not.
A 1950's house will need insulating. Check the loft!!, do you have cavity walls.!!
Tell more, we waiting to advise.
