I wish to reinstall a programme onto my computer from a cd. However when i come to reinstall it it says there is still a part of it left on from last time. Do you want to remove it says so i say yes. Then this message appears;-

"unable to locate installation log file C:\programmes\mcafee\mcafee utilities\temp.isu"

it the refuses to uninstall it and therefore i cant reinstall the programme - how can it be done?

Not too technical please but if it requires to be technical then put it in plain simple english!

You might need to edit the registry to remove all traces of the program from your computer. This is not something I would advise you do if you are a newbie. Perhaps you have a friend who could do it?

Try saying No ... it may then just install

I was using system mechanic on free trial from download.com until the trial period ran out.

It's been getting some negative feedback recently but if you run it carefully it might help - I never had any probs with it and it sped up my computer.

It asks you before it does anything so you don't have to worry about it changing stuff without your permission

Change the installation directory, that way it shouldn't find any other traces of it
