I have painted mine with ordinary undercoat and gloss paint, the same as I used on the metal garage door.

I agree with Molerat - any decent oil based undercoat and a gloss.

Alternatively if you want to clean the plastic up have you tried T Cut?

if your walls are painted , you can paint them with the same masonry paint or i would go for this http://www.bedec.co.uk/ msp - multi surface paint , it's available from dulux decorator centres
this doesn't need any primer or undercoat , i always find that normal u/c +gloss doesn't stick to plastic eleccy/gas boxes

I did mine with ordinary undercoat and a cheap gloss. They have lasted well, although the paint has faded after being exposed to the sun for at least 12 years. No sign of any peeling or bubbling of the paint.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Nickj is correct :D when you paint plastic, ie downpipes, you should just gloss on top, no undercoat.
