Mortgage help - please help

Hi all

Ok I am really struggling to get an answer from benefit people about mortgage help.

My situation is as follows:
Myself and wife on jobseekers - have 2 kids
Both lookin for work
Wife might be offered fulltime TEMP job

If wife accepts temp job what happens to mortgage help?

This question is too hard for benefit people and I have spent the last 4 hours talking to about 5 different departments including local job centre, claim line, A4E and then back to claim line.

I know mortgage help stops if start work, but if you then stop work it means waiting 3 months for mortgage help to start again, all other benefit starts straight away but not mortgage help

I want to know if this is the same if my wife works fulltime as temp while I continue to claim.

If it is we cant afford for her to take the job, we really want her to take the job as its first time we've been offered anything in a while but if it means losing our house its not worth it

Please please please help if you can

Thanks in advance to all who spend time reading this or helping with this.

Andrew

As far as I am aware there is a linking period for mortgage help so if you start work for a short period of time you dont have to wait 92 days again.

I'll try to find something to back that up.

    I got this:
customers moving from Income Support and Employment Support Allowance onto Jobseeker’s Allowance, including lone parents moving under the conditionality proposals, will retain their current entitlement if they move to JSA within 12 weeks of leaving IS or ESA.

NASA is right. There's a 12 wk linking period.

That means provided you're back on benefit within 12 wks of your Wife starting work you should get help for the mortgage from day one of your new claim.

But you'll need to keep a very close eye on the dates ... because if you're outside the 12 wk linking period by even one day, you'll be right back at the very beginning again and will be forced to wait the 13 wks before help with the mortgage kicks in again.
